Karen L.
What inspired you to start teaching?
With the encouragement from others and a passion for fitness, I felt inspired to teach. To keep my inspiration fueled, I do my best to participate in weekly fitness classes. It helps me to keep an open heart and open mind to the experience of being a participant. My own experience reminds me that it takes continuous courage and motivation.
Which styles of classes do you specialize in teaching?
I teach yin yoga, yoga sculpt, Zumba, dance fitness, TRX and strength training. I hold certifications as a 200HR Registered Yoga Teacher, Certified Group Fitness Instructor, TRX Certified Coach and maintain a Zumba Instructor license. I have an additional 50HR Yin Yoga teacher training beyond my 200HR Vinyasa Yoga training.
What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I enjoy encouraging and empowering others. I also like to demonstrate high and low impact fitness levels and modifications within all of my classes.
What can students expect from your classes?
They can expect safety, professionalism, respect, and enthusiasm. They will also witness a strong passion and a humorous side of me weaved into my classes.
Do you have any personal hobbies or interests outside of teaching?
My family and I foster shelter dogs. We have filled our hearts and home with 12 foster dogs (not at the same time!) and have adopted two of them. Our most recent adopted dog is Chewy, our 3-legged French bulldog mix. My other interests include walking, running, dancing, keeping a daily gratitude journal and practicing mindfulness. Beyond teaching classes, fostering dogs and family life, I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. With my education in psychology and counseling, I also work as a mediator to help clients with issues and/or conflicts.
