What inspired you to start teaching?

Teaching is a true passion of mine. I am a school teacher of more than 15 years ; I've taught nearly every grade at the elementary and middle school levels. I have an admiration of yoga. After a Friday night Restorative class during a particularly difficult year, Restorative yoga has since held a special place in my heart. Teaching yoga was not that different than teaching in a classroom and whole new appreciation for the craft of teaching was born in me. Teaching is my form of creative expression, and  combining it with my love of yoga made absolute sense for me to explore. I'm honored to give back to the yoga community much of the same love, compassion, and empowerment yoga has given me over the years.

Which styles of classes do you specialize in teaching?

I am a 200-hr RYT with an additional 75-hr training specializing in Restore/Restorative, Yin, Nidra, and assists.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

Yoga people are my people! I love sharing space and energy with folks who want to prioritize their own well being, and do my best to help them release the stressors from the outside world and go inward to their own body and spirit. My favorite part of teaching yoga is seeing the blissful looks on faces after waking up from Savasana, knowing my goal was accomplished.

What can students expect from your classes?

I try to offer multiple versions of an asana (pose) to help each person find what works best for them in that moment. I create a safe and gentle space where all bodies and abilities are honored and where the only goal is to connect the mind and spirit to poses that create peace within. I connect breath and body to provide visualizations for help with this. I offer mindful, intuitive hands-on assists to help the body release tension or and sink deeper into a pose. I provide small bits of education about what the poses are offering in terms of support for anatomy, body systems, and energetic meridians. I'm a student myself, so I always keep it real and share examples of my own practice to create a greater sense of community and trust.

Do you have any personal hobbies or interests outside of teaching?

I love reading, fiddling with my plants and my garden, going camping, crocheting badly, and spending time nesting at home with my husband and our two boys.
