How You’ll Feel: Released, Relaxed, Nurtured
Level: All Levels
Targets: Deep stretching, joint mobility, relaxation, fascial release
Description:
Yin Yoga is a more active form of deep stretching, where you’ll hold poses for 3-5 minutes but actively engage your muscles to maintain each pose without the support of props. This difference in approach encourages the body to stay engaged, promoting flexibility and joint mobility while still targeting deep connective tissues. Areas of focus include the hips, lower back, and shoulders, with poses such as Swan and Sphinx helping to stretch and release tension. Steady, mindful breathing supports the stretch and enhances the body’s natural release process. Yin Yoga provides both a physical challenge and a mental relaxation, leaving you feeling physically rejuvenated and mentally refreshed.
What You'll Do:
In Yin Yoga, you’ll explore deep stretches that require you to actively hold the shape of the pose without relying on props for support. Poses like Swan and Sphinx will be held for 3-5 minutes, engaging your muscles while targeting deep tissues. The focus will be on areas prone to tightness—hips, lower back, and shoulders. You’ll use steady, controlled breathing to help the body relax deeper into the poses while keeping the muscles engaged. The session wraps up with grounding poses or an extended Savasana to help release any remaining tension and leave you balanced and calm.
